Just built a house on 2.2 acre wooded lot and right now mow about 3/4 acre. It's not that smooth and has lots of rocks and fallen limbs so need something rugged. I want to slowly clear and add grass to about another acre. Right now I have a Troy Bilt Bronco (MTD). It still runs good, but the deck just gets beat to death. I've replaced it once and spindles once. After about a half year whith the new deck the bottom piece of metal that hold the mulching plug in (a pitiful piece of plastic) got torn off again. Looking for a definate upgrade for ruggedness.

Thanks - Rick

I don't know what your willing to spend, but a sub-compact tractor with a belly mower and FEL would be very rugged and handy on helping you clear the property.

Seems you are describing an area that is not lawn but needs mowing and cleanup. A walk behind DR mower will do the job well but at only 30 inches or so would be slow if you intend to mow frequently. Next step up would be a 20 something horsepower SCUT or CUT with a brush hog or flail mower. I cleared about four acres of similar land using a Kioti CK20 and a 48" brush hog. Lots of choices in that size range.

I might just look at renting a bushog or even a skid steer when I want to reclaim. I saw someone in another post recommend throw aways which I may consider when this one bites the dust.

Thanks Rick

Rent a tractor with a landscape rake and a plug areator and go to work. A weekend will make a big difference.
