I would agree with those above and think you are fine. Given what a poor set up they did with the oils you should check all the grease points on the shafts if you haven't already.

for that size of a cutter though.. he should be much happier with a dual spindle 8' vs a large single spindle.. like a 7' they are IMHO.. harder on the tractor than the dual spindle models.. etc.

BB,

Sounds like you got yourself a real nice cutter!..... to bad about the delivery knuckleheads!

One thing I noticed when first using my twin spindle 8' cutter is that they do tend to vibrate a bit more then any single spindle cutter. As long as I keep the blades free of junk on the blade mounting bolts, and they spin freely all is well..... if not....

most mowers I've ever bought came dry with a waring deep insid ethe manual to add gear lube.. so may have been an oversite either way.. either they started filling it and then got distracted.. or.. one box didn't get emptied at the factory after fill and test... just depends on the dealer.. some dealers go ahead and fill them to prevent damaged seal/bearing/shaft warranty returns..

give her a good check after use.. some previously 'tight' nuts may need more torque on them afterwards..

good luck.

Mr Magis & Ninefinger:
thanks for you input, eases my stress (and anger) a bit. Their incompetency also involved having a dry dipstick on either outboard gearbox (residual level was 2 inches below dipstick on both), and a loose fill/ check plug on the center (splitter) gearbox held by a few threads that would have backed off 1st use. maybe I'm over obsessive, but it is a 5.7 K piece of equip....... Believe I caught it all......now for that overdue glass of wine......thanks again, bb
