I decided to try out flail mowing for some rocky hilly ground in North Alabama. Project 1: I found a 48 inch Mott D9 designed to be used as a belly mower under Cubs and other old tall tractors. I plan to add an 18hp engine to it, frame up some wheels, and make it a towable mower. Project 2: While looking for parts on fb marketplace, I came across another Mott flail that is 72" cutting width and has a 3 point hitch and gearcase driving the pulleys. Same shape and cuttershaft as the D9, and some research revealed it to be an F6 from the mid 1960s. I need to rebuild the F6 gearcase with bearings and seals, and replace some worn blades. Some of my internet roaming unearthed some parts documents that I thought might be of assistance to others. The docs for the F6 were not easily found, but the K72 models docs are more easily found. I will post what I have here, just in case someone else has a need for identifying the mower or getting part numbers. I don't expect to get the projects finished before May.
