Have 2 acres to mow and am looking at JD mowers. Suggestions on which is best?

Well since you decided on a brand already I would say your only limiting factor is wallet size. I also have two acres and am in search of a replacement mower. All I know is I want a 48" or larger deck. My current 36" takes atleast 3 hours to mow. And that is speed mowing in 4th gear. If want it to look nice, 2nd or 3rd gear and about another 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

I bought a JD L120 and cut 3 acres with it. Has a 48" deck and it saves a lot of time. I did not want to spend the big bucks on a more expensive JD product as my ist mower MTD lasted 13 years (still going) but was not comfortable and had only a 42" deck.

Allow me to dream a little. GX 345: 20 HP Kawasaki V-twin, power steering, hydraulic lift, 54" deck w/ powerflow bagger. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Yep... that would be nice! Probably to the tune of around $8000!

I would go for an LT180 or better.

I'm thinking there you had a couple earlier threads; so you may have already posted why you want a lawn tractor, but if not, let me throw a twist in things.

The fact you're not looking at GTs, I'm guessing that it doesn't have in ground engaging activities in store. If it is just for cutting grass and maybe a light trailer or something, the $4K marker gets into ZTR machines designed for a couple acres.

These machines have their negatives too [handle different on slopes ect.], but if you have many obstacles it will cetainly save time which also should cut some hours the engine has to run for your mowing tasks.

You're looking at JD, but the Z-Force comes to mind in the CC line up, not to mention a whole slew of commericial manufacturers now marketing "transition" units as well.

Good Luck!

I just bought a CC GT 2544 with a 44" deck. Its got 2.2 hours on it now, but so far I love it. Give the CC line a good look. My personal opinion is one with shaft drive. My old Cub Cadet (149) is still my back up. I think when I wear this GT 2544 out,
the CC 149 will still be running. 1984 CC 149.
