These puppies are heavy. And like handling warm jello. When we moved 4 years ago we brought about 50 of these with us. My wife decided to carpet our horse barn floor with them. I was horrified. I had to come up with a better way. I ordered a set of clamp on pallet forks for my loader. These worked out far much better than I ever imagined today.

Yes, they are heavy. I only have a couple to protect the concrete floor from tire chains. I cut two in half length-wise. With that many, I'm sure glad you have the forks. By hand would be a killer.

Get a pair of vise grip C clamps. Clamp on edge and they make a handle to move the mats around. Use a sledge hammer to coax them into final position.

Grab across the narrow dimension on one of the ends. Squeeze together to bow the mat upward. Lift end and drag it to where you want it.

Aren't hydraulics a wonderful thing.. Thru the years hydraulics sure have saved me a lot of pain!

I have one in the back of my truck for the dogs during hunting season. After the season the mat is slid across the lowered tailgate and directly on to the tractor's pallet forks for cleaning. Then it is slid back in.

The first year I made the mistake of dragging it out of the truck and on to the ground. Error.

This will sound odd, but if you need to simply move/position them on a smooth surface such as a concrete isle or in a stall, you can use a leaf blower pointing the air directly at the edge of the mat. They will hover like hover craft and you can move them with a finger. Odd but true.

We got 'em all in the barn today. These were used mats. The mats were in the barn yard and it was pouring rain while I was bringing them in. So they were heavy, handled like warm jello, and the rain made them slick as heavy rubber mat coated with a layer of horse poop. Glad that's over.

Now if you want to see some really heavy mats, the mats I have in the hall of my barn are old grain elevator conveyor mats. They are 3/4" thick, extremely heavy duty mats, 5' wide and 66' long. I estimate that they weigh about 1600 pounds each. rubbermat.jpg
