Greeting, I need to move 10 yards of #57 bluestone which will be dumped on my asphalt drive with my Kubota BX25. I'm thinking I would be better off removing the Piranha bar from the bucket in order to scrape it more cleanly off the driveway and not dull the bar, suggestions? Thanks

It 's only two bolts to remove it. Yank it off, move your material, and then put it back on. What makes these tractors so versatile is that we can configure them for so many different jobs.

Personally I would leave it on. I have moved about 20 yards of crushed clean 3/4in gravel with my PTB on and it still looks great. I am not sure exactly what #57 bluestone is but if it is similar, the PTB will dig/scoop the gravel easier... at least most all of it. It will protect the lip of your bucket. The PTB, if you wear it out which would be tough, will be cheaper to replace than your bucket.

thanks guys, I may try it both ways. Actually I failed to mention that I am both moving the stone and spreading it (57 bluestone is 1/2 to 3/4 crushed stone generally blue or gray that packs pretty well) for a new parking area by my shed. Thinking that I'll get better results spreading/back dragging w/o the bar, but we'll see.

As long as you keep the bucket flat. You will not have any problems with scraping up your driveway with the Piranha bar on..

I would take the PB off to move and spread the material. No point in taking a chance screwing up the driveway. When you place the material try to get as even as you can with the bucket. It will save you a lot of work trying to smooth it out.

With my PTB I noticed if I tilt the bucket down and put it in float it trowels the gravel like mortar for laying tile. Then go over it again backwards with the bucket flat in float and the gravel is smooth as glass. The gravel I have is 3/4 limestone.

Just reporting back, I took the PTB off and moved, spread and leveled the stone. Worked perfectly and did little damage to the bucket. Put the PTB back on, and there was zero deflection in the leading edge of the bucket. Thanks all.
