Well we have made a big move in our lives......we hope for the better. Two weeks before Christmas and we were packing up and moving to Michigan. What fun that was but we were able to work our butts off the first week in the new house and were pretty much settled a few days before the holiday. So far we love it. We have had plenty of snow to play in but now we are looking forward to spring time. It has been fun exploring the area. We found a nice little 14 acre hobby farm on a dead end road. The only people that drive by are the people willing to risk getting stuck on the trail at the end of the road. So far helped one guy with the Kubota L3130. But I do not plan on making a habbit of that.....they just need to learn the hard way!!!

So we are in the Mount Pleasant area....any other folks from the general area with any pointers.....like a good Kubota dealer, good Ford dealer and so on. I just may have to change my log on name.....I chose Hillslider since we lived in West Virginia and had nothing but hills and I was always sliding on them...not any more. It is so flat around here......as someone had said.......you can watch your dog run away for a week!

Welcome to Michigan Hillslider! I'm on the other side of the state, but can see you from here (kidding). I can't help with the dealers but do find my way over there occasionally on business. A few general Michigan things you'll need to be aware of:

You don't go to Meijer, you go to Meijers. Same with K-Marts and WalMarts. We do have four seasons, Fall, Winter, Spring and construction. During construction season everyone goes "up north". "Up north" only goes as far as the bridge. Beyond that is the Yoopers and that's an entirely different language including the incredible, edible pasty.

I had a whole list of Michiganisms from when I moved here but have since lost it. I'm sure others can post more.

Again, welcome and you'll get used to the flatness.

Hillslider - Welcome to Michigan! I'm about 60 miles due east from you. I'm sure there are good Kubota dealers closer to you, but if you don't find any, I recommend Miscisin Brothers, 3768 S. Huron Rd. Standish, MI 48658 (989-846-9281). I did not buy my B7500 from them, but I bought a Woods RB72 there last year at a very competitive price. Nice people and their repair shop looked pretty good, too.

Hi Hillslider, welcome to Michigan. Have you climbed Mt. Pleasant yet?:D If so, you may still be able to buy the T-shirt if you look around town.

I spent five years in Mt. Pleasant, but haven't been back in years. My wife's folks also lived there, but are gone from this world now. There is some nice farmland in the area, and I hope you got a nice piece of it.

Sorry I don't have recent enough experience to help you with your questions, but maybe Farwell will see your post and respond. He is pretty close to you, I believe.

Tom

P.S. I think RobS was pulling your leg a little. Some folks in Michigan can actually say K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and Meijer without putting an 's' on the end.

Welcome! originally from Midland, just 30 miles east- spent four years at CMU, now live near Traverse City. Enjoy the area- lots to explore, not too far from Lansing, and close to "up north" I will send you a list of Michiganism's to help you understand your new home. We have a great hockey tea, ( red wings ) Basketball team ( pistons) and don't forget the Tigers! Most of us want to forget, or dis-own the Lions!

Welcome to Michigan. I live about 25-30 miles south of Mt. Pleasant, I bought my Kubota north of you in Clare at Kubota Central I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Also if you are headed to Lansing north of there at Dewitt is Capital Equipment & Supply I've bought parts there. Hope you enjoy our State.
