I know most of you are looking at the tractor on the barge, BUT I was looking at the cooling towers in the background. The cooling towers on the right are not operating, note no steam. They are the cooling towers were the famous Three Mile Island almost nuclear disaster occured on March 28, 1979. I was in college in the area when this went down, something I will never forget. The local news was telling us we were all going to die, while the national news was saying no big deal. Anyway that picture made it all come back to me like it was yesterday.

More people have died in the US in Ted Kennedy's car than have died in nuclear power plant accidents. Just goes to show how the media can and will scare the masses.

Yup. As the crow flies I live about 7-8 miles from TMI. Everyone arounf here has their own stories of when that happened. The operating reactor is reaching its end of life in not too long. That will be intersting for our area as they are one of the bigger employers around.

I was talking about the one near me in the lakes region. I suspect Tim was talking about the same.... though they may have a store up in W. Lebanon?

Hawkenson is in Meredith and Plymouth. I suspect that they would rally for a similar island excursion on Lake Winni.

Messick has impressed me with every post that they offer.

The Gardener

Yep, i've had great luck with Hawkensons

Interesting demo but unless the picture is distorted in some fashion, I expect that my B1750HSD would easily have done that job.

I read that they are rebuilding the damaged reactor now at TMI and will restart it in the near future. Was in the paper earlier this spring when they ran a story on nuclear power becoming a hot topic again with high oil prices. Mike
