I know there's no getting rid of them unfortunately, but as I'm fighting the urge to itch the 50 bites I have right now in inopportune locations like knuckles I'm a bit miffed and they all need to die a slow painful death...
Anywho, I live on 5 acres near a creek bed that is very shallow, has 20' or so of reed canary grass on my side of the trees, and in the trees is about a 100' wide swath of trees and nearly standing water all year. In the trees is not my property so I can't go doing much in there although I'm sure I'd get no complaints. Past the creek down stream is a couple ponds that are used for irrigation.
Right now I have a box fan by the garage with some window screen on it, it's catching some of the stupid ones but it isn't enough... I've seen the "mosquito magnet" which looks to take a BBQ tank of propane and electricity along with some attractant that all needs refilled every month for around $300, then there's some UV and fan units for around $200 both doing about an acre
Any other options? If I covered an acre that would do the important areas around the house where I spend the most time. I just got the majority of the reed canary grass down last weekend which should help...
