Kubota BX24
First, I want to thank the members of TBN for sharing their knowledge and experiences. I "lurked" on this board a long time before buying my BX and becoming a member. The info I found here gave me what I needed to make informed decisions when it came time to buy. It would've been tough without you.

I put this thread in the Kubota discussion because I'm looking for input from other BX owners. My property has lots of rocks (and boulders), and I've already slightly bowed the bucket by accidently hooking one (I think the bucket could be a bit thicker, but that's another discussion).

My research finds two styles of bolt-on toothbars. Most have a bar inside the bucket with the bottom of the teeth hooking over the cutting edge. Having already bent my cutting edge, I'm wondering how this style bar is working for other BX owners, especially in rocks. Any bending? The second style (ala H & H) has a V-bar that covers the bucket edge inside and out. This style looks like it would distribute any rock-hooking force over more area, not directly to the bucket edge. Anyone have experience with this type bar? Am I over-thinking this? I'd prefer an inside bar for less weight, plus flip-up convenience, but...

Finally, I'm thinning woods undergrowth, and like the idea of close-spaced teeth (ala H & H EZ Landscaper). Any problems clogging teeth? How does this type bar do for general loader work? I'm definitely going to get a toothbar, but don't want to own two.

The EZ Landscaper is $$$. I priced one locally and I recall it was around $500!! The Markham toothbars are less than 1/2 that delivered.

I think weight could be an issue to for a BX. The ATI tooth bar that I have on my B3030 is over 50 lbs. I believe the H&H bars are even heavier.

I have the H&H bar. I love it. It does a great job when back dragging. I did cut the three wear pads off of the bottom though, seems to dig better without them. Yes, its a little heavier, but my bx23 can still pick up a full load of dirt and/or gravel

The Markham on the BX is a good match. I love Mine. Big difference in performance of bucket. You can have them add an extra tooth or two for a small fee. Markhams customer service and delivery time was top notch!
