I got tired of my logging winch not releasing the clutch. A couple of months ago I took the detentè apart and somehow managed to lose the ball bearings. Today I brought it to the auto parts store to see if they had anything which would work. The clerk took it out back, but returned after a fruitless search. I looked down at it and there was one of the missing ball bearings staring me in the face. "Oh" he said. "I heard something fall out..."
It's not his fault that I gave it to him with loose parts.
Tonight I ordered (20) 9mm ball bearings at a cost of $5.55... plus shipping which was $17.99.
So I spent another sixty bucks to offset shipping costs.

When I had my Jinma tractor I lost one of the balls out of the driveshaft 4wd coupling I figured I was in trouble but I ended up getting them at the local bearing shop.

Bicycle shops usually have loose ball bearings, but maybe not that big.

Or another way of looking at it...

You bought another $54.45 of additional goods to add to your total networth and prevented $17.99 from being "thrown away"...!

Not to be too picky but a ball bearing is filled with bearing balls, so your bearing was short a few bearing balls.
