Hi everyone. ...I am trying to find a newer tractor for our snow plowing business.....I want a 5101e, but I have been missing out on some of the better deals out there. We have found a really nice 2009 5093e with 400 hours. Does anyone know of any programmers, similar to what I have on my diesel truck? TS performance makes one, but I haven't been able to find any info on it. I am going to try and call TS on Monday. But I thought I would ask here too.

The 5E's don't have a high tech computer controlled engine so you need to take it to a heavy equipment shop with a pto dyno and get it mechanically tuned.

Alrighty..... thanks. I was hoping it would be a little easier than that.

For pushing snow a 5101 would have no advantage over the 5093 or maybe even a 5083. These tractors have far more power than traction for snow clearing. I can push a fair bit of snow with mine but always loose traction long before I run out of power.

That's what I was assuming, too.

You can do a search on "how do I get more HP from my (fill in the blank) tractor" and read for hours.

I'm not trying to be a smart-alec, but you get more horses from a mechanically injected diesel by feeding more air and fuel.
More air mean a bigger turbo. Blowers ain't cheap. Also, sometimes a bigger blower requires a different intake manifold.
More fuel means turning up the pump, and/or bigger injectors. Again, not a cheap proposition.
Something else to think about: if you boost the engine output of a new tractor, you will likely void the warranty.

If you really NEED more HP, buy the bigger tractor. You'll save money in the long run.

Just my 2 cents worth.
