Montgomery Ward Garden Mark Squire 12

I picked up a Garden Mark Squire 12 last weekend for free. I think it's a really neat looking tractor with a really wide stance (will look great with some 26x12x12 ags on it). It also has a sleeve hitch and hydraulics. I even picked up the dozer blade that goes with it. Anyway, I have no info on this tractor and can't seem to find much on the net. Does anyone know anything about these tractors? Links to parts dealers, manuals, decals, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Those tractors were made by Gilson Brothers for Montgomery Ward. Gilson was bought by OMC/Lawn Boy in 1988, and in 1989 OMC sold Lawn Boy to Toro. So that is the history/heritage

Although the Gilson/Wards GT's preceded the disposeable days and were good tractors, new parts sources are all but gone, maybe the occasional NOS part on E-Bay, with a few used parts or machines for sale or being parted out on E-Bay. There is a Yahoo group, "Montgomerywardsgilsontractors" that might be of help for manuals, etc.

We use a 1969 ward with a hydro tranny to pull deer carcasses out of our hunting land. Sat outside for last 30 years and every season fires up and pulls like a fright train!! WELL MADE UNIT!! I think teh first wards were Simplicity previous to WWII then Allis C.then Gilson!

Dad n i do lawn mower pulls. He is running a 1969 Montgomery wards mark squire 12. Besides missing 1 pull he places 2nd for champion points. There actaully amazing machines. Now were building a 16 hp 1974 Montgomery wards.
