Not considering price, finance terms or anything other than performance, which of these two tractors with a FEL would be the best tractor to own?

Both nice tractors but the comparison needs to be defined a bit more. What do you want, an hst or gear machine. If HST the Montana 3440HST is the comparison you want.

In either case the 3040 is not really comparable to either. The 3040 Mitsubishi engine performs incredibly well. It is smooth, reliable and strong. The 3040 comes with many, many standard features like draft, 2 remotes, elec./hyd pto, rear work light, folding ROPS, your choice of tires. and if you are looking at the new fel it is incredible. It is the model 100 curved boom loader that is skid steer compatible.

I like this tractor a lot and think in the 30hp range it is hard to beat at any level. I think you need to be looking at the Grand L series to get a more close comparison to the Montana's premium compacts.

Both good tractors so I would check out the dealers, drive each model you are interested in and see what is best for you. Much of it depends on info not provided so it is hard to say much more than this.

Thanks,
Maka

Sorry Maka for not telling my intended purpose. I want gear transmission and intend to use on deer lease and dirt hauling in yard, medium duty brush hogging, ect. Thanks

No apology necessary and sorry for my lack of manners in welcoming you to TBN. You have come to a great resource here on TBN and most people here are happy to help. What size property are you using the tractor on?

Thanks,
Maka

Around 5 acre yard and 80 acre(wooded) deer lease.

I just purchased a Montana 3040 with a FEL and R4 Tires about a week ago and have 10 hours on it now. The only implement I own at this time is Montana 6 foot box blade. The main reason for the purchase was to maintain my private road hence the box blade. Thus far the 3040 has done everything I asked it to and more. I have had all six rippers down and the the box overfilling with dirt and it never thought about spinning a tire. I have really been impressed with the performance of the 3040.

I'm awaiting deliver of my Kubota L3400 next week.

I wish the smaller manufacturers like Montana and Mahindra had a bigger dealer network around here. They sure seem like good tractors for the money with proven engines.

Alas the lack of dealers within a reasonable distance didn't allow this to be an option for me.

How does the pricing compare between these two machines anyway?
