.... from her cell and said Dad was shredding and got his tractor stuck. He did not want her to call me but she did anyways because after 5 hours he still could not get it out.

Since I consider myself experience in this field I jumped in my truck to assist.:D

The picture shows how he is stuck, what it does not show is the cement culvert between the rear wheel and the shredder. It is a new culvert and has only been there 50 years. (OK, he is 79 and I will give him a break.)

After jacking up the stuck tire to disconnect the shredder, and then we cut the fence and removed a post, he then curled his bucket downward and pulled himself out. It was easy I have seen it many times on TBN. In an hour he was mowing again. He thought he could do it without cutting the fence or removing the shredder, no way.

After all the times my Dad has helped me it felt good that I could help him.:)

But, the culvert probably is in a wetter spot this year than in many years past. Huh? :)

I just make it a standard thing that if I am stuck with a 3PH implement of any kind, the implement has to come off before attempting to get the tractor unstuck. Nice job, Don.

Heck, I even got this thing stuck last Saturday. (And I rented it because I kept burying a Case 580 Super L).

Harvey, Just as we got the tractor out, a 100hp JD showed up. The neighbor said he saw the stuck tractor and unhooked his spreader to come and help. Good people here in Lee County.

Working on an interesting project Harvey?

That grass is tall at my place too ...... your title scared me a little. Knowing your Dad's age and all ...glad it wasn't serious stuff.

Tall? That grass is just starting to look good! I don't even consider mowing until my grass is that tall. Then I consider it for a month or so ;)

Mike, now that's what I call Easter egg hunting grass. I never could figure what the fun was picking up candy from a mowed yard.

My neighbor had a good thought on long grass. " If it's less than 18" we call it grass and we mow it, if it's over 18" we call it hay and we bale it."

Hey Don,
What a good thread to post... put a smile on my face this morning. Shows what a good guy you are.
It's also great to still have your Ma and Pa around.

He probably new there would be a photo-essay on TBN if he did not get the tractor out BEFORE you got there. :D You have to give him a LOT of credit at 79 years old.

You are a lucky man to be able to help your dad out and maybe double lucky that your parents live close. It's great that he's still out working at 79 yrs of age. When we bought our farm years ago I had no better help than my dad and also no bigger supporter.

Don, you'd never believe all the messes I've been having fun in. But this winter I do think we need to plan on a week in Lee County helping out a friend, right? After all, have travel trailer, will travel for work.
