On manual transmissions with the H/L and 5 gear selection levers, has any one figured out how to eliminate moisture from getting into the transmission? Both units we have have this problem and we have to change them prior to winter or they will be froze solid when the temperature drops below zero.

John,

Are these boots located just on top of the lid? I am assuming that one would have to remove the top lid to remove the shifting sticks. Have you ever done this and how hard is it?

Marty, your problem I don't believe is unique to you. We get it bad in the northeast on all types of transmissions. There are different oils that absorb more water in the oil. You might need to go to changing the oil every year.
