Is there any experience with the Modern Super Sunshine cutter in 5-ft width? I've ordered one (price =$1350) for my 2005 Kubota L3130 -- based almost entirely on its blade tip speed (16,500 feet/minute) which is about 15% higher than the highest average of other brands. My back pasture is ungrazed and grows very dense and tall grass and weeds. I need a nuclear-powered disintegrator...

Wow.. you are paying up to 2x as much just for a few mph more blade speed... 12k/158mph not good enough for your brush? Lotsa models int he 14k range for half that money..

I did some research. It's a matter of physics. Flail mowers work well where they apply because of the speed of the blade tips -- they don't cut as much as pulverize the grass/weeds. Flail mowers start in the mid-$2K range though and won't handle the heavy stuff a RC will, so I figure I'm getting by pretty cheap. Thanks for the comment though...

I live close to where they are built. I've always been impressed with Modern's equipment. I had a 4' Competitor on my Kubota and I loved it. I bought mine about 2 years ago and paid $785.... and that was a good deal. Most of the dealers wanted $860+ Yours is bigger and better... the price sounds fine to me. Did you get a galvanized one?
