My brothers 50 has had a bearing noise down in the first reduction area for a while now. I hear it is common in this size tractor including the 520/530 series. I would think it might be in the mainshaft as my first guess anyone else have any ideas?

Check the roller brg. in the first reduction gear cover it is located in the small casting secured with 2 3/8 in. cap screws.

Brother says he has but was afraid to pull it because the shaft might drop. He is getting braver as he goes along.
