John Deere x720
I have been reading about the guys who have been "deere hunting" finding wonderful deals on used equipment. This weekend, I found a John Deere model 10 cart for $100 on CL. The seller was local and the cart looked in good shape except the tires. Claimed he put it together but never used it. It had been used but was in good shape. I understand the 10 cart was produced between 1987 and 1998. I also found that it came with a two piece body and a single piece body. The size tires changed from 14x4-6 to 15x6-6. I am assuming that the older models were the single piece body with the 14x4-6 tires which is on my cart. Hope to take pictures of the cart tonight before I start taking it apart. Does anyone have any information about the model 10?

I just purchased a 10P cart this week-end from Home Depot. Not all stores have it; but it is available online. They are just under $200. Tire size is 15.00x6 - 6. Its a single piece plastic type body, with slots so you can put up to 2 dividers in it to make 3 separte compartments. Also has "stake" holes so you could make talle sides for it. Its called a model 10 because its supposed to be 10 cubit feet.

This is 10s cart and I have since discovered that the tires are 15 x 6 -6. Hope to really get into the renovation this weekend. Mostly taking the cart apart and cleaning.

P1010386.jpgP1010384.jpg:dance1:I am almost done painting the parts on my cart and started the process of assembly yesterday starting with mounting the new tires onto the rim. After an hour of fustration, I took the tires to the local tire shop. Charged me $20 to mount them and when I was done, I figuired it was the best $20 I spent all day. However, they took one back because it wasn't holding air. The attached files are pictures taken just before I started disassembling the cart. Next weekend, when I complete the project, I will post the pictures of the finished product.

I finally got the cart finished this weekend. What a fun project but I learned that raddle cans are expensive and doesn't provide the best finish without a lot of work. I need to use a better primer that fills in the pits in the metal. Don't try to mount your tires on the small cart rims without the proper tools, let a tire shop do it. Can't wait until the next one comes along. I found an industrial carpet that is bullet proof and put that in the bed of the cart. It will help protect the bed and I can remove it.

Cart looks nice, I use a high solids automotive primer and have had good luck with it...think it is Advantage 315 but depends on the paint you use.

Thanks for this post. Very helpful! Dug a similar 10S cart out of the brush on my mom's property. It had been there 6+ yrs but still in great shape. Cleaned it up & now it just needs some touch-up paint & a new tire.

I see this is an old thread.
But I have one of these that I bought new in 1997 for right at $200.
It was the single piece design, and does have the large 15x6.00-6 tires.
I have put 2 new tires on it but have never painted it.
The wheels use the same bearings that the front wheels of several lawn mowers use.
However I do not really like the latches and hinges on the back gate.
