Just bought a 2007 JD 735 moco. Looked it over and found play in a couple of the turtle bearings (up and down). Dealer said a little play is fine, but I'm wondering if I should replace them anyway. It's going to cut about 600 acres. How much play is ok and anything else I should watch out for? It's a 2 point 1000rpm impeller model.

total endplay at tip of disc is 1/8", otherwise replace bearings.

That's great, thanks! One has that much play and 2 have less so I think I will just replace the worst one for now and keep an eye on the rest.

That would be best, its pretty reasonable to replace the bearing before it fails. After one fails and if it damages either the spindle or housing your are better off replacing the gear and housing as an assy, a tad spendy at almost $600, but no reason to ever have to do if you continue monitor the endplay. When you get your bearing you will may want to have a spare shear hub (ae71036) and maybe the cast spacer above it (fh312160) just in case.

Yeah, I was thinking of having a couple shear hubs on hand. We are still 2 months away from silage season here but I don't want any downtime, have lots to mow and only a short time to get it done.
