I have to say that putting the MMM (60") on the new 2920 I have is quite slick. I have used the drive over deck a couple times and have turned the MMM wheels and rolled it out a couple times. Either way works well and driving over the deck has not bothered me as much as I thought it would.

The drive shaft is the only slow part I have as the rest is so simple. I have done it from the left, right sides and even from the rear to find the easiest way.

On my old unit I could get the spline started and then pull the lock back and finish the connection. This new unit the lock has to be back to get it started into the spline. It is funny how a couple extra steps can take away the simple in something.

Any tricks that you TBN people have found for putting the shaft on that can help.

Yeah, connecting the drive shaft is the trickiest part of the whole operation. I don't have any good tricks to suggest but it does go a bit better with practice. I did try separating the shaft in the middle, putting the rear part onto the spline first and then trying to reconnect the drive shaft but that was a complete disaster.

I just have resigned myself to sliding under the rear end, which goes pretty well. On BX models that won't work because they sit so low. Since I'm a small guy the clearance on the "B" models is enough for me to scoot between the rear wheels on my back. The up side is that once one gets under there, the shaft goes on okay. But hey, tractor owners are used to dirt, grease and creaking bones.:D

I like to slide the deck under, hook up the PTO shaft, then the linkage. That is what works for me!

I used to slide under the rear end to get the pto on but have gotten fairly good at getting it on from the left side of the tractor.

We have a Kubota B2710 with the 72" MMM. Bought tractor with 89 hours and now over 500 hours and have never removed the MMM. It can be raised and pinned in raised position when using box blade, rotary cutter, etc. on the 3 point. With it pinned in raised position, have plenty of ground clearance when doing dirt work.

Just my 2 cents worth. :)

I have never did the shaft first and will give that a try. Other than that from the back was the best for me so far.
I remove the MMM when doing dirt work. It is not hard to do and is out of the way for heavy digging. I always get into more than planed it's better not to have it hanging around.

I suspect that folks with longer arms vs short people like me, could work from the side and get it done without too much grunt...on either a BX or B. I, too, take the MMM off before most chores with the FEL or 3 pt, because it's so easy to get into more than planned; and it's really not that hard to do after a few tries. I tried the "pin up" method and was not happy with the way it hung.:2cents:
Cheers,

Hahaha....I found the same thing. Taking the mower off and putting it back on is incredibly easy. But laying across the deck trying to get that shaft lined-up can be a real pain. Need longer arms, lol.
