Has anyone put the mmm on with the rear skid plate on? If so how the he!! do you get the pto shaft on? I can't get my hand in there to release the locking end on the tractor.

It ain't easy! I find that I can reach the collar and slide it back, then use shaft to wiggle it off. I actually find putting mine on is more of a challenge cuz I end up tapping the collar and it snaps back to the locked position. The only piece of advice I can offer is to do the shaft before the lift arms when attaching it and lift arms before the shaft when taking it off.

I'm just trying to get it on, it's a nightmare.

Have done mine several times and it's a tight fit. First as stated, make sure you pull the collar back to the lock position before you even try to mount it on the PTO stub. You can then guide the collar onto the stub with one hand. I try to get it started so the weight of the shaft is on the stub, then rotate the stub or collar to get them to line up. One pointer is to put your pto selector switch in the rear PTO position. This will let you easily rotate the mid pto by hand to aid in the alignment process.

I've had a lot of trouble also, and I don't have the bro teck protection. One time it goes easy, the next I fight it for ever. I took the left rear tire of the last time, and got it right on, you might try that. Any other comments on the bro-teck would be appreciated, because I'am still on the fence about buying one, or the bxpanded one. Thanks, Wayne

The brotek plates are great quality but I think that once he mowers on it will be too much grief to remove and reinstall unless its really necessary. I must say t after a year with my 2660 I'm disappointed with some things like this. It seems kubota is really behind in making their machines user friendly. The mower install, the lack of three point positioning and he inability to lock the three point hitch in the up position easily for afew. the fact that thy need protective plates at all is ridiculous, never mind that they finally added one from he factory that Is more or less worthless. It's. great machine I love it but they need to keep up with the other color tractors in my opinion.

So having commented earlier, I paid attention to what I was doing Tuesday night.
First, I slid the collar back, which is tough. Mine only takes a feather touch to snap back. I use my left hand to thread it through the hole. Then I use my right to find the match on the stub shaft. This is hard because with both hands out, it's easy to take a bite out of the floorboard. The other problem is the darn parking brake rod; it cuts the space in less than 1/2. If you can get it lined up, then it's easier to wiggle the shaft with my left hand to push it on. I just verify the lock with my right finger tips.

One last issue I have run into twice, and can't explain is that I extend the shaft too far (mower too far forward yet) and I *can't* get it to slide back together. I have to take it off and start over.

...did it twice yesterday (why is another story)...first make sure all splines (internal and external) are clean and greased. That has done more for me than everything else. Deck centered/positioned rearward to prevent shaft separation. Working from left side, lock collar back, without touching collar, carefully feed thru skidplate hole onto spline w/left hand. Sometimes have to push/pull idler belt with right hand to align splines. When shaft is inch or so on splines, collar is no longer an issue...collar can't lock until shaft in correct position. Right hand goes behind left edge of skidplate to help if necessary, and check that collar is locked.

I despise r&r-ing mower...JD is talking to me in commercial where they drive over mower and done. Mower is harder than everything else I've done to BX...including hydro fluid and filter...thanks to skidplate haven't had to do a fan...

Next time, may park tractor with rear wheels on 4x4s to try for more working room without extending shaft too far...dunno...

Got a chance to tackle this again. Got it on but it's ridiculous. If I had known when I bought the tractor I would not have gotten the mmm. I don't like it on when I'm in heavy brush or trees its really bulky but its a 25 minute ordeal to put it back on. There is no way to take these machines in heavy brush with no belly protection so I guess I'm stuck. Hopefully I'll get better at it soon.
