Mixing fluids

My L5030 developed a hydraulic leak and lost a couple gallons of fluid. The unit has 250 hours on it. Previous owner had fluids changed by dealer at 100 hours but didn't know what fluid was put in it.

I seem to recall that it is really, really bad to mix UDT and SuperUDT (assuming the dealer put a Kubota-branded oil in there at all!). So...am I stuck replacing all of the fluid and both hydraulic filters at this point or would I be safe topping it off with UDT or SUDT and waiting to change it all at the recommended 500 hours?

5030T I don't think that it would really hurt it either way, but when I buy some used, I always change everything right off of the bat. That way, I know what has been done, when and what with.

I wouldn't worry about it. They are compatable just the Super for the most part is a little thinner.

I don't know the answer to your question, BUT I do remember a point that had to be emphasized to young Armour soilders. The old M47 tank had a wide assortment of fluids for various reasons. We had to make sure everyone

knew that you cannot mix 20 W oil with 30 W oil
and get 50 W oil.

You recall wrong. UDT and SUDT are completely compatable. Non-Kubota UDT equivalent fluid is also compatable with either. Put whatever you have in there - it won't make a difference. If you don't have anything already, buy a 5 gallon bucket of $25-30 generic UDT and toss the couple of gallons in.

can you contact the dealer who did the servicing and get them to look up the history off that machine, they may be able to tell you what oil went into it.
