New to these little tractors and cannot find any in my area to compare to. I have found a 18hp, 2cly tractor with 4 pieces of equipment. Was wondering what anyone thought about this deal- $3500.00. Also got some questions toward tractor itself like engine noise and rear diferental. Tractor says 136 hours on meter. Supposed to have been purchased in 2000 as a new-reconditioned tractor. Any input or info would gladly be appreciated.

Looks like the hour meter has been zero-d. That is a sign of a Veitnam rebuild. I have no experience with these rebuilds, but others have spoken poorly of them.

I paid $2600 for my D2000ii (20 horsepower) with 960 hours and one piece of equipment. The price seems fine, AS LONG AS THE TRACTOR IS O.K.

Hope that helps some.

Take a look at the grey market forum. Read up on reconditioned tractors. There have been some horror stories. Its hard to tell what pecentage of the market these stories represent.
Good luck.

Not all reconditioned tractors are horror stories. As previous posts say, read the forums about the grey market...but you could easily spend days doing this as there is a lot of good info and some misleading.

Just be sure you do a lot of research on the model you're buying, parts support, dealer follow-up/warranty/customer service. There are many good stories that owners would share, but many use this forum for help with problems. If someone doesn't have tractor problems or any concerns, then he/she is probably happily using a tractor for projects and doesn't have time to surf the net. :)

Ol's dad bought a Mitsu 2000 a year or so ago, same story, reconditioned.

haven't had any problems with it.

I use the **** out of it.

the things don't have many safety features like American Market tractors, if you aren't up on machinery and operating them safely, you have the potential to kill yourself on one of the offshore models.

I don't have a clue where you get parts for them if you really need something, I suspect most of the time you are SOL.

I guess it depends on what you want and can deal with, if you are the type of person who cant fix their own equipment without service literature or use a machine that doesn't come with directions or an operators guide, its probably good idea to stay away from them.
