I have problem with the starter.It spins but does not engage.
When it does engage it turns the motor one explision and it
immediately disengage.Do I need a new starter...Pse help

Regrettably this sounds like some of the teeth on the flywheel are wiped or close to it. This can happen when the starter engages at the same spot for many years. It happened to me. Check the teeth first before you waste money on starters like I did. Hope I'm wrong!

Sounds like a bad starter drive. I can supply new , used , or rebuilt or the parts to rebuild it.
