Mitsubishi d1550fd Medium drive not working

i just got a used Mitsubishi D1550fd tractor and the medium range drive is not working. The low will engage but has to be pushed further forward than the ball set point. The high gear range works also at its normal set position. Any suggestions please?:confused2:

Take the top cover off the transmission case and look inside. You may have to drain the oil to see the range gear set. You should be able to visually see what is going on from the top though. Put the main gear shift lever in neutral, take the bolts out that go around the perimeter of the cover. If it has been a long time since the cover has been removed, you will probably have to tap and gently pry to get the cover to lift off.

Thank you guys for the information and advice. I will take a look at it when I get the chance in a couple of months and the weather warms up. I will keep you up on my findings.
