3-Point Hitch Mitsubishi 1601D Bush Hog Attachment

I just noticed that the tractor-end of the cutter's PTO u-joint assembly is attached to the tractor. That assembly needs to remain attached to the PTO drive shaft of the cutter. You remove the u-joint assembly and the PTO drive shaft of the cutter from the tractor-end when detaching from the rotary cutter.

Steve, I think you're right about the missing bracket for the top link. I'll attach some additional photos. Is that bracket something that can be purchased and attached?
Also, I can't seem to find anywhere on the tractor to attach the two lower links. I'll attach some photos, but there appears to be a hole on each side of the tractor where a bracket/bar should go to attach the lower links. Do you know if these brackets/bars/posts can be purchased somewhere?
Thanks.

Before you get too far, take that universal joint off the pto on your tractor. Let us know what the tractor pto shaft looks like and which way it turns when running. Some of them turn counter clockwise. Your bush hot may be built for a clockwise pto. You need a bracket made for the four bolts in the first picture to attach the top link. In the third picture you can probably get a steel rod to fit through that hole in the bracket. The rod should fit the swivel balls in the lower lift arms in a previous picture. If you can't fab this stuff you will need to take it to a welding shop or find a good buddy that can do it for you.

It looks like your tractor was last used with a Mitsubishi RotoTiller. That large bracket surrounding the PTO shaft with the shield on top is a special 2 point hitch specifically for the tiller. The universal joint attached to the PTO has a square female end again specifically made for attaching that specific tiller. When you remove the universal joint, you will probably find an 18 spline shaft, but as the poster above states, its important to determine how many splines and which way it turns. To use your 3 pt. hitch lift arms, you will need to remove the large rectangular bracket and attach a different (smaller) bracket for a top link. There should be pins on either side of the rear differential for your lift arms. Please let us know what you find regarding the PTO shaft. Good luck!
