Hi all,
First time tractor owner seeking some input on a tire decision.

My 2wd Mitsubishi MT372 tires are pretty beat up & dry-rotted. They're the original Bridgestone turf tires on rear 9.5-16. Carlyle 4-ply 18x8.5-8 on front. Not sure how to evaluate this on a tractor -- would y'all replace tires in this condition?

The PO told me his next step was going to be Ag tires if he hadn't sold it to me. I've seen other MT372 owners go that direction. I use the tractor with a mower and 42" bush-hog to maintain a 2 ac field, 48" rear blade for driveway maint and dirt. Planning to add a small plow implement for vegetable gardening and setting out a meadow one day.

On a machine this small, will I see any practical benefit from mounting ag tires? I'd prefer to keep turfs on it, but I also noticed the ag tires are more widely available in this size, and more affordable. Any opinions on this welcome--I've read some articles but that info was more applicable to CUT class tractors.

Thanks in advance,

I recommend replacing those tires now. Replacements will be good for the next 20 years if the tractor is stored under cover.

If one of those end-of-life tires deflates at a bad time you could be injured.

Traction is always an issue with 2-WD tractors. Rear tires on 2-WD tractors are usually filled with liquid for additional traction weight.

Go with R1/ag replacement tires, which you likely have now, if you decide to replace.

9.6-16 rear tractor tires on eBay around $180 each, delivered.

18X7.00-8 front tractor tires on eBay around $50 each, delivered.

I doubt if traditional pattern ribbed front ag tires are still available in the USA.

You are lucky to be able to get new tires.
My Mitsu (MT180D) wears 9.5's X 18 R3's and NOBODY makes them anymore.
Being 4 x 4 I must respect the size ratios.

Thanks for the replies. I will budget the new tires in the next month or two, and take the ag rear, turf front route.

Piloon, hope you're able to keep finding those tires. Odd how tire scarcity makes whole tractors obsolete before their time on some of these models.
