I have noticed a very small leak of hydralic oil from the rear of my tractor. I lose about 1 teaspoon of hydrolic oil in a weeks time and cannot find where it is coming from. I have ordered a "stop leak" product
which is supposed to act a s stop leak in a hydrolic system. I was talking to my local New Holland dealer and he mentioned that I should NOT put any additive in the system as it could plug up various screening and make the problem worse.
Which is a correct action to take as If I have the NH dealer replace the seal it will be VERY expensive. Is that small leakage something to ignore until it gets worse???

Thanks;

i would NOT reccomend a stop leak.

I WOULD clean up the area so you can see where the oil is dripping from. then address that issue.

what machine?

+1 no additive.

1 teaspoon a week? I would let it be. in a few months or a year you might have to top it off. lol But I can understand wanting to keep your machine tip top with no leaks.

if you can clean up the area really well you should be able to tell where it is coming from. Maybe clean it up and then not use it for a few days/ a week so the oil will be fresh with no dust sticking to it. might make it easier to ID the source.
