Mink in the trap

Over the years we have had some of our chickens killed by hawks, raccoons and mink. Mink are the worst as they will kill dozens in one night. Just caught the fourth one since we moved here over 12 years ago. This one seems real nasty, lots of hissing and spitting. They are pretty mean and nasty things. If they stay down in our creek area we don't bother them as they are not bothering us but when they come up to the chicken coop area we have to take action. Sad to have to deal with the mink but that is the reality of living in a rural setting with animals.

There's an old saying about Mink ruling the world if they were the size of bears or something along those lines. They are tough and mean.
My son just caught one on his trap line this morning. Season is in now in this area. You might check with a trapper in your area if you aren't keeping it to sell the fur.

I trapped one back in the mid 60's and got $8.00 for the hide... Big money back then for a 12 year old kid.

You don't get much more than that for a nice female mink today. Somewhere less than $15 for one put up well.
