Mini Turbo

Does anybody know of a small turbo that would fit on a lawn mower engine. and if so does it require an oil line from the engine or is it oilless. and if it does require an oil line how would you plumb it up.

I dont know of any turbos for a lawn mower engine. Turbos require pressure lubrication and lots of oil for cooling, which are things that a small engine like that doesnt have.

Go to Ebay, and search for " Small mini Hitachi ht06 Turbo" It looks pretty small. The bid is at $20.

I stand corrected.After a little searching it looks like some have strapped these small turbos to briggs and honda small engines

Not without alot of work though and external oil pumps and sumps. Have to wonder if its worth it

i suppose there is always going to be those out there that will do it because they can.

but it would seem to me you could get the same power to weight ratios in some crotch-rocket motors or snowmobile engines.

why reinvent the wheel?

That video of a turbo on a lawn mower was , well , SCARY .

At those rpm's , all I could think of was parts instantly becoming Projectile's rather than engine parts . As mentioned above , if I wanted a souped-up lawn mower , I think I would look at a more powerful type of power plant rather than try to that .

I have a Craftsman mower with a turbo out of a mazda engine. I didn't build it, and I've never started it, but I have it. I got it in with a bunch of parts from a guy in another state. He said he could plow snow at about 30 MPH with it. I'll have to take some pics tomorrow when it's light. I sure looks silly.

And you've never driven the turbo'd Craftsman? I'd have made it top priority...... just out of curiousity !
