Mini-Round balers what does the compact tractor operator want?

I need to make a correction. The guy I mentioned that sells small round bales...doesn't. His daughter and my daughter are friends and we went by his place to pick her up. The bales that I thought were small were standard size....they were just way out across their pasture. In the white plastic wrap they just looked very small.

Seems in this area the cow folks use large round bales, the horse folks use square.

Heston and International went together and made this baler a few years ago! Look at a Heston 530 or an International 8420. Bale is 39 inches wide, 4 feet diameter(approx) weighs about 350-500lbs. I pull one with a '67 Allis D-10 series 3 with 2way hydraulics about 35 horsepower. I think that Agco is producing a similar baler, since they bought Heston.:) :)

This is a good baler for a small utility tractor but the compact tractors do not have the mass to safely operate this Hesston 530.
The D-10 weighs 3000 Lbs plus the wheel weights. Most of the D-10 dress out at 4000 LBS.- 33.5 HP.

I have been looking for a compact baler that will produce either small squares or rounds. I Use a NH TC33DA. A baler that would produce 50-75lb dry hay bales would be great. There are some foreign balers being produced that make a standard small bale.

AGRIQUIP.com

Something along that line would probably work for most compact owners. I am currently looking at them, but would be interested in a new production from you guys.

The Star baler has been extensively discussed on TBN. It's price is close to that of a full size baler. The question is how much would you pay for a functional round baler that you could pull with your tractor? You purchased a high quality tractor, how much quality and longevity do you want in a small round baler? A small square baler will cost $2,000-$4,000 more to manufacture than a small round baler.
