Walmart sells a mineral base and paraffin base grease in a tube. Is one better than the other for general tractor use?

For general applications the paraffinic base would be better. There are several different types of paraffinic base oils but in general they will offer better oxidation resistance, demulsability (water resistance) and a higher volitility rating.

Just make sure it has the EP designaiton if you are using it to lubricate your FEL or BH. EP grease is used for Extreme Pressure applications.

Thanks guys. I'll use this in sposts that have zirks.
I've tried using greese on the "eyeballs" that the pins go through on the 3 point hitch arms, but it turns black and drys out. Dupont sells a Teflon multi-use dry wax lubricant that doesn't attract dirt. Do you think this will lubricate these better than rubbing on greese?

I use fluid film which I believe is a parafin base on my 3pt "eye balls". It seems to work well. I got mine mail order but I believe John Deere dealers all carry it.

Fluid Film: Corrosion Preventive, Lubricant and Rust Inhibitor

Thanks for the name; I saw a can of this a few years ago and have been trying to remember the name so I could acquire a can. My loco, er local John Deere dealer does not stock it, about all he stocks is a bad attitude, but 2 local commercial lawn equipment dealers do carry it. It is listed a lanolin based.

We tried the fluid film and it was poor when used on outdoor elements...
