The hole hawg has more slop than I thought, but not a 1/2 turn. More like a 1/4 turn. All the way to the left and right. ImageUploadedByTractorByNet1454088727.816007.jpgImageUploadedByTractorByNet1454088762.316684.jpg

There ya go and it's enough to blow the gears when the spindle jerks...

I bought mine on a sat., Kurt, the guy behind the counter (AIH in Alaska) tried to get me to buy the Elu, but I had a magnum and wanted another Mil. drill...

It took me about 10 mins to blow it and when I came back later that Sat., as I walked to the counter, Kurt said: "you blew the gears didn't you? I TOLD you to buy the Elu"!! AND I did... It's a MUCH better drill...

Monday morn when I got back on the construction job, the Plummer "Terry" said, Hey, if you had told me you wanted a Hole Hawg, I would have given you one, there's a couple on the bench at the shop with blown gears"....and all the guys on site busted out laughing at me... lol lol

SO, Kurt had already put the word out... ha ha ha

The Elu has a stronger glass filled motor than the Hole Hawg, with a built in "ratchet clutch" in the lower gear of the gear box, to keep you from killing yourself...

It's by far the stronger better drill, I even used it for a "starting motor" (in hi gear) to crank start the pony motor on my CAT, something that the Mil. wouldn't do... I made an adapter just for this use...

I have a Dewalt version. I have used it quite a bit and it works great. I have another Milwaukee magnum drill that I have used quite a bit. It has way less slop than the hole hawg. The hole hawg might not be their best tool, but other wise Milwaukee pretty good. I bet you can find a turd with pretty much any company.

Home Depot has a great deal going online for a Milwaukee M18 Trueview LED Stand Light. The regular price is $249.99, but with the promo they're including a free M18 XC 5.0 battery and charger. I bought one and it is awesome!! They are also running a special on their smaller M18 Trueview LED light which goes for $149.99 and includes a free M18 XC 5.0 battery.

So I went thru all the Milwaukee cordless tool sale listings going right now at the HD and IMO there are a few good ones.

For a starting base in the M12 series the 2493-22 drill and hackzall combo is a real good value @$99. That little hackzall is one handy tool. :D

I've put mine thru the motions it'll chow thru a 2x4, plumbing pipes, conduit, steel rod, or bolts and if you position it vertical with the base on your work its a pretty good a makeshift jigsaw to quickly cutout notches or trim off something.

And the 2494-22 2457-20 package is another decent deal. The drill and driver combo has often been around for $99, but the bare tool ratchet alone has most always been more than $100. The 2462 impact driver was the very first M12 tool I bought ($79 kit with 2 batteries, charger and case on sale at HD) and is still my favorite go to driver. I thought I would kill it but has never skipped a beat driving hundreds and hundreds of screws for me all the way up to 3 1/2".

Noisy little bugger though

And the 2454 Fuel kit has NEVER been on sale as long as I can remember so adding the 3/8 ratchet into that pkg virtually cuts the cost in half.

18 volt tools the 2697-22CTB is a pretty good price for the two tools even without the BT speaker! This is listed as being the most current 18v brushed hammer drill the 2607 and 2656 impact tool.

Bare tool model # 2621-20 brushed recip saw is $120 less than the -21 kit (note which is one 3ah battery, plus charger and case).

The going price as of late is a full $100 off of the original Gen 1 2797 2pc Fuel kits with 4.0 batteries but the new Gen 2 with the 5.0's is $50 off until Feb1 so its a tough decision there right now!

Couple caveats some of the big combo packages have older model drills and drivers included. They are still a good deal but just be aware the aren't the latest tools so the specs and performance ratings will vary somewhat.

By the time I went back to look the earlier mentioned 2360 worklight and battery offer was sold out!

I cant imagine how bright the 2360-20 worklight is on the high setting at 3000 lumens.

I have the 2361 floodlight and is plenty bright on its high setting of 1300 lumen. And med on the 2360 is still more at 1500 lumen

I see its back available online today as it was listed as out of stock yesterday for a while.

By itself @ $149 I find the price hard to justify but with a 5.0 battery it levels the cost out quite nicely. The battery list for $129.

I also see the same 2360 light with free battery offer at Milwaukee CPO but the battery is listed as only being a 3.0ah

I did have a bad experience on one order one time with HD substituting a different battery than advertised and no amount of e mail correspondence with their customer service with rectify the situation either. They kept telling me the battery wasn't available.

But with one e mail to Milwaukee Tool customer service afterwards with my complaint I had the correct battery in hand in two day later. And not from Home Depot either but shipped direct by them N/C.

I left a tool review at HD and a warning about the substitution on the free battery offer...they took it down!

Re hole hawg:
I always use about 12" of pipe to screw into the auxiliary side bracket as I know a fellow that fractured his hand using a hawg.

My old 'skill' Milwaukee saw is still my favorite due to size weight power and balance.

Also have the drill that has 45 deg head and extension for drilling studs for wire pulling. Guess you'd call it a pole drill as you can walk a room drilling joists and studs as you go. Also great for PEX runs.
