Might Need To Hot-wire My Kubota

My guess is that the 6 volt test is simply a test to see if the solenoid will work when the battery is partially discharged. I'm sure it is intended to operate at 12 volts.

I think I might of found out why they want you to use a 6 volt bat. to test the solinoid. After looking at the wire going to the solenoid D905, it feeds other things and using the extra watts. It also looks like the started solinoid could get fried if to many things go bad down stream from D905 solenoid. In other words us 6v to test only, like what was said before. The IC reg. could be bad, is the bat. going dead after setting over night? It can only be the IC Reg., key switch or safety switchs. If you have 12v from the IC reg. to # 30 on switch and not out of # 50 then its the switch, then so on.
BlackSmokeLust the S on the solenoid is for Start. Kevin hope I didn't say the same as you did before, I'm sure some might be.

I think we're all on the same page. I have never seen a start circuit quite like it. If D905 is a solenoid, I'd like to know if it has a function other than to reduce voltage for the starter. Not sure why a starter has a hold coil. Bottom line is we need 12v on S and 6v on C. Please let us know what you find.

Re the 6 volts to test solenoid;
could it be that they are actually using a 6 volt solinoid due to voltage drop when the starter in engaged?
starters will often drop line voltage to 8 volts or so, and a 12 volt solenoid would risk opening under low voltage condition.

^ This.

That's why older automotive ignition systems had a ballast resistor that dropped the operating voltage to 8 or 9 volts. That resistor was bypassed during cranking since the delivered battery voltage was dropped to 8 or 9 volts by the cranking load.
