When I clicked on the thread I thought you were referring to a Kubota K008 or equivalent. Of course I want one but it’s unlikely I’d ever own one. The price to work capabilities just doesn’t add up for me. I’d be more likely to own a walk behind skid steer but I haven’t had enough need to justify one.

Honey? What's taking you so long in the basement?

Now, that is a nice toy! Seems to have been running out of battery though. I can't imagine how he found the room to put the electric valves.

Think it’s hydraulic on a micro scale or electric actuators?

Where would you source hydraulic components on such a small scale? Its gotta be actuators I would think.

The cylinders are the easy part. Getting hoses and valves would be harder. Even being a little toy it would take quite a bit of force. I figure it’s got a couple pound breakout force plus the mechanical disadvantage. I’d be interested to know more about the workings of it.

He's got more videos out there. Here's a quote from the "About" on his youtube channel....

"About
My radio controlled hobby since 1995 has expanded to a large fleet of construction equipment models from fumotec.com of Germany. Primarily 12v electric hydraulic functions & some models use linear actuators for function as well. The models are mostly kits that I have built & modified to my liking, some of them are scratchbuilt by me as well.

Accomplishments with RC:
Enlarged my basement 30%, dirt removed approx. 30 cubic meter
Dug a walk through tunnel from my workshop into the basement of my house, dirt removed approx. 25 cubic meter

I'm a grain farmer (had cattle too for 25yrs, quit them a few yrs ago) from southwest Saskatchewan, Canada

Cheers, Joe"

In the comments he said the excavator weighs 88 pounds. He can hardly lift it.
