Mice under my bota's hood.....any cures ??

I keep my Kubota B7600 parked under a shed and now that cold weather has hit, I have been having trouble keeping mice from nesting under the hood and behind the firewall. It's a real pain to clean up all this mess every time I crank her up. Anybody have some ideas that have worked for them ?

I keep a mean, hungry cat in my shed. I come out most mornings to a mouse placed on my tractor seat as proof the cat is doing his job. I have had no damage since I got him two years ago. I let him out in the morning and in at night. It works here and is cheap protection.

Lotsa posts in here on this topic - mothballs, dryer sheets, cats, poison, water buckets/gangplanks...... Oddly, I find that leaving the hood propped open helps a lot (mice feel less secure/enclosed I guess).

Check your air cleaner too. Found a whole nest with 5 baby mice inside mine... Once I " disposed" of them I haven't had any more trouble.

Even when not using it, I started it daily for about 2 weeks , Just to warn the mice off

If you have such as planters they like to use them also.

I have the same problem with mice and chipmunks in my cars, boat, and grill. Mothballs seem to work in the interior of the boat, but not in the grill. It's difficult to keep mothballs under the hood of the car.

Peanutbutter on mousetraps works every time to catch them, but who wants to draw them in?

I seem to recall someone on this site using some hot pepper sprinklings with great success. Would be easy to do and cheap.

We don't promote this on the internet, but it maybe worth a phone call. Our parts guys sell boxes and boxes of this stuff called cab fresh that is a deodorizer and mouse repellent. Its actually made for tractors. They have had a hard time keeping it in stock this time of year. Call 877-260-3528, takes the option for parts and ask about it. Its cheap, a few bucks a packet.
