1962 MF50 diesel
Hey guys! new guy here! having a no start issue with my 1962 MF50, tractor ran fine when i parked it ,I don't use it much but 2 years ago my wife stopped planting a big garden, so it sat unstarted for 2 years with the shut off pulled out :mad:and the pump had a slight leak :cautious:! so when I went to start it last week it cranked and had no fuel to the injectors, first thing i did was bleed the system and it gets great pressure to the pump bleeders, but just a tiny no pressure squirt out of the fitting to the injector lines! i took the top cover off the cav pump and everything was covered in varnish and the throttle valve was very stiff! got to be the problem! no biggie i figure i get a kit and some new filters,5 gallons of fresh fuel and because that pump sweated from a few seals anyway i order the parts! fast forward a week i install all the new filters remove pump disassemble clean and install all the new seals and gaskets, put it back on and still no real pressure out of the pump! i pulled the pump off 3 times now and watched 4 cav pump rebuild videos thinking maybe i missed something but i have triple checked everything and all seems to work normal and move freely! the pump pistons were also gummed up but are nice and clean now! this pump is super nice inside showing no signs of wear on anything so i hate to think of spending $700 for a rebuilt! do you guys have any thoughts on what would cause no high pressure?

Has to be starving for fuel I guess somehow. Sounds like you cleaned the filter on the cav. It is at the back end. also sounds like you bled the cav on the side bleeders. It is very sensitive to leaks in the tubing from the lift pump is what I remembered. Also make sure the lift pump on the engine is working correctly

Spend the $700. Watching videos isn't how you rebuild injection pumps.

thanks M7040! i cleaned the tank pet cock screen filter, changed the primary fuel filter the secondary filter can type fuel filter, and a new filter on the back of the pump that came in the gasket kit! I even replaced the low-pressure pump blades! the priming pump works great and makes great pressure to check for line leaks and there are none! also the lift pump makes great pressure when cranking! if i open the bleeders while cranking the motor the bleeder screw will shoot a steam of fuel 3 feet! :ROFLMAO: ask me how i know that? (face full of diesel) anyway the CAV pump has great fuel pressure and fuel delivery to it but it just won't make high pressure!

thanks Harry! if you read my post it says i watched those videos AFTER i took the pump back off to make sure i didn't miss anything! ive been a heavy equipment mechanic for many years and serviced and rebuilt many pumps, gear boxes, and engines but this one is mine not a customers! sure its easy to just replace it but thats not what i do (well not yet anyway):ROFLMAO: getting close though! thanks for your input though! that might be the end result!

I have a similar background. I rebuild all sorts things too, just not injection pumps. That's best left to someone with proper test stand equipment.

Just had a thread wrap up with a bad fuel cutoff solenoid. Are you getting full movement range on the solenoid/linkages?

worn out plungers. the pumpguy built mine, mine was doing the same thing. I also had him go through my injectors, but this was on my international, not my massy. well worth it to get it right. ran a massy i has in the late 80's out of fuel several times. like to never have gotten it to start. soak a rag with gas and hold it in place of the air filter and try to get it running. never ether a perkins. I learned that the hard way. broke the ring glands around the piston. they have a lot of compression compared to a ford or other diesels
