Just to add the blue smoke only comes out of the stack for a moment at start up. Once I've throttled it up it clears the stack. The blue smoke then comes from the breather tube with the oil drip 15 or 20 minutes into running the tractor.

Sounds like a plugged breather filter.

a little blue smoke at start up is normal after an engine gets some hours on it. This is from oil in the head leaking past the valve guides as it sits. Nothing to worry about unless it really starts to smoke a lot. Breather tube I do not know about.

Was out this morning and started the tractor, some smoke from the stack at start up but cleared relatively quickly. Let it idle for 10 to 15 minutes to warm it up good at 1200 rpm. There was nothing coming from the breather tube so I jumped in and took it for a drive. I ran it in 2nd gear high range at 1500 to 1800 rpm with no sign. When I turned to bring it back I decided to run it in 3rd gear high range. Upon letting the clutch out it bogged a bit and the smoke came from the breather tube, by the time I brought it back to its parking spot the smoke had all but cleared and as it idled for a minute or two it had stopped again. Where and how would I check the "breather filter"? The oil bath air filter at the front was just cleaned and oiled. Thanks for the the help so far.

The breather filter is on the engine side of your breather tube. It could be anything cylindrical on the outside or hidden in or under the valve cover.
I just googled "crankshaft breather filter on perkins diesel images" and a few different styles of external filters popped up, just to give you an idea what to look for.

LOL.. I was JUST coming over to this site to write THAT "dog"..Lol
If your dead set on trying to unstick some oil rings?? 1/2 ATF & 1/2 mineral spirits/acetone.. ATF will eat the carbon & the atone/ ms. just add alittle flow to the mix..
It DOES take alittle time tho.. Pull the injectors, put the mix in the inj. holes & cover.. let it sit for a week or so.. u can add more to the cylinders if u like..
When its ready to check.. clear all/any debris away from the hole & spin the engine until the mixture has spit out the inj. holes.. reinstall the injectors & work the snot outta it.. get it nice & warm/hot.. & hopefully the rings will have broke free..

Don't know your climate. I suggest Rislone Engine treatment down the injector holes as well as added to the engine oil. Rislone uses a strong polar solvent to dissolve deposits in engines. Very good for removing carbon, soot, engine varnish, coked piston rings, sludge/varnish from valve components and generally cleaning up dirty engines. Dump the Rislone, engine oil and filter after about ten hours. Refill with 15w-40 HDEO (Rotella, Delvac or Delo) and install a Wix 51515 filter.
