MF205 Head Gasket

I'm getting ready to replace the head gasket but am unsure if I need to use a gasket sealant. When I took the old one off it just came off like there's no sealant but I'm unsure if perhaps that's why it failed in the first place. Its a 2 cylinder diesel.

Depends on the type of head gasket
