Also a tractor newbie!
I have 10 acres and am looking for the best all around compact bascially for mowing, tilling, moving some rocks and most importantly want a front attach snow blower (I'm from Canada after all!) Our driveway is on quite a hill so I think the snowblower would be a better option instead of trying to push it with a blade. The sub-compacts just seem way too small.
The Kubota we priced at $21900 (with loader, mid mount mower, tiller) the snowblower is an extra $5200.
The Massey is $22100 for the 1528 HST (loader, mower, tiller) and the snowblower is $4895.
So they are pretty close in price. The 1529 Kubota 8X8 Synchroshuttle is about the same as the 1528 but has great financing on right now (0% for 60months) Who knew I'd have to finance a tractor!!
Any advice on which to choose? (esp if any of you have run them in -40 degrees)
Thanks!

Well, I am in the same boat as you with 15 acres. I have been looking at the kubota 3030 or L2800, MF 1528/1531, or the Mahindra 3215. I am in Canada as well and wondering what part of Canada you are in? (if you fill in your profile, we can learn all sorts of things about you:D ) I am not considering the xx20 kubotas because the 3 pt control is the 1/4 inching valve rather than the position control. This would make running a box blade or any land engaging attachment (tiller/rake/rear blade) rather difficult.

In my area the MF are $1000 to $1500 cheaper than the kubotas. I find the kubota's controls a little more intuitive than MF. The fel operates quite abit quicker, but the mf has a greater 3 pt capacity. The mahindra seems a beefier tractor than either, but costs as much as the kubota and the dealer is 2.5 hrs away. I haven't had a chance to drive the Mahindra yet, but it seemed to fit really good, even though the seat is not suspension. So far I think I've narrowed it down to the MF 1528, Kubota L2800 (over $2000 less than the B3030) or the 3215 Mahindra and am leaning to the the 1st two because of dealer proximity.

I am watching this thread with interest as I am close to pulling the trigger.

Might take a look at how much more you can get a 3400 for over the 2800. Basically the same tractor but more power which is nicer for mowing, bush hogging, etc. If it is not much more in price it may be worth it to you.

I did finally take a look and see that a L3200 runs $1400 give or take, over the L2800 here in southern Alberta. For that I feel that it would be worth it. That is still $2800 more than the MF 1531 hst with quick tach loader and the B3030 is another +$1600 above the L3400. And right now MF has 0% for 60 months.

So how are the MF compared to the Kubota's?

Also got some seat time on a 3215 Mahindra and was really impressed except for the ridiculously slow reverse, compared to the forward speed. It just crawls and I can see me getting good at changing ranges to keep my fel-ing happy. Everything else was impressive.

Any thoughts on these options?
Thanks

All are good choices. Have you considered Kioti? I like the CK35 (now offered with a free loader) better than any of those you are currently considering. And it probably will cheaper than some you have listed.

Actually I initially had that, as well as it's smaller sibling, the Ck30, on my list. The problem being when I found out the closest dealer is 20 miles away and I can't get him to answer the phones or respond to email. I have talked to one dealer that seemed anxious to try to make things work, but he is over 500 miles away. He does have a sister store in my neighborhood that does not handle the Kioti line, but he is willing to try to make things work through them for warranty and service issues. I talked to this sister store and although they had no clue what a Kioti tractor is, they also seemed willing to try to service me should I purchase one. All this gives me some cause to be hesitant. I don't especially like the thought of such a round about arrangement.

I am very mechanical and have no problems doing my own service, just wondering how often warranty issues may arise. Any thoughts are welcome.

Is it true? I just checked the Kioti site and the free loader special for the CK35 does not come up for Canada? Really?
