MF1240

I have a MF1240. A few weeks ago, the engine revved up and the exhaust was putting out heavy smoke. The ignition wouldn't turn off at the key. After a few minutes of this, it cut off. The tractor wouldn't start until the next day. Last week, the tractor wouldn't start. I drained the fuel, and, replaced it with fresh. The tractor started. Today the tractor started the same process today. The smoke started getting heavy. Tis time, I cut it off.
Now, it won't start. Does anybody have suggestions. Other than a new tractor.

Take the air cleaner out and see if it has any effect.
It could be the control rack in the injection pump sticking/stuck..
And/or an injector sticking open..

Hey pump guy sorry bout your tractor is that an older tractor? I have a 1080 mf it’s a 1979 model. You choke it to kill it. I do not know about the newer ones

Choke it.??
It has a shut off lever on the top cover, if it’s a CAV pump.

Yea the old ones work that way. Starve it for air to shut it down
