Massey Ferguson 1100 and International 1066
I just bought a MF1100, it had been sitting in storage for the past 8 years, 6700 hours, very clean, engine is very sweet. However the hydraulics seem quite noisy compared to my IH1066, cold they were quite loud and after warming up quieted down, is that normal??
All fluids are full and very clean.
Thank you for any input

Is the Massey a closed hydraulic system? That might cause it to be louder until it warms up, cold oil and high pressure can cause this. The International 1066 is open center so the fluid while moving isn't under much pressure unless a valve is activated.

Regardless of the system type on an older tractor your valves could have some internal leakage too, just a guess. Have you replaced the filters recently on this tractor?

I'm afraid I don't know if it's a closed system or not.
There's no filter on the system that I'm aware of, oil level is full.
I appreciate any input.

I would be very surprised if it does not have a hydraulic filter, bet it does and I would change it. It may have an internal cartridge that is under a painted domed metal cover, so you may not see a spin on cartridge. I would recommend you look more closely. MF has always had good hydraulic systems one of the best in that era I think.
