Hello everyone. I noticed fluid leaking underneath my tractor, the fluid was dripping from the bolts that hold the bracket for my swinging drawbar. After further inspection I noticed a previous owner installed a helicoil type of insert and must have drilled it in to deep. Ugh!. Now what? Can any type of sealant be used in this situation? Any suggestions ?

I would spray some brake cleaner or similar solvent into the hole to wash out oil, then refit the bolt after applying some sealant - silicone RTV gasket or similar is all you need. Just do one bolt at a time, a bit in the hole, some more on the bolt, then ensure they are suitably tight - easy!

First, you must stop the flow of oil so that means empty the source first as the sealant needs a clean surface to adhere to. Perhaps using some Teflon tape around the bolts might work instead of draining and cleaning the bolt holes would work, it's worth a try. Bob

Is the joint held rigidly, or are you looking at a crack failure from long term wiggling around loose? If the fastening points still have their integrity youre good. Stopping a zero pressure leak from inside a bolt hole will be easy. A heavy teflon thickened plumber spuge driven into the hole by the bolt should do it.

Thank you for the replies, have to get up to camp and look further into things. Have to double check for a crack. Spyderlk are you referring to a teflon plumber pipe tape ?
