MF 471

I've been looking at MF 471's at local dealers and until yesterday all I've seen had the fuel tank located beneath the left side of the deck. Yesterday I saw one that had the fuel tank located under the hood. Is this an older model?

I'll admit that I'd much prefer the tank under the hood, I can see myself running a stick into the tank under the deck in the first few hours of operation. I'm just wondering if the under hood tank is an option or if it's and older model?

I have an '04 471, and the tank is under the hood. The larger models (the 491 & 492 i believe) have the tank mounted under the platform step. These tanks are also much larger.

Unless the newer 471's have some sort of option to get the larger tank, I would say you may have seen one of the other 400 series tractors..

The Massey 431- 481 have the fuel tank under the hood, unless it is a cab. Then it has ground level fueling. They needed room for the A/C parts under the hood.
