I am in the process of fitting new spindles and bushes to my 1957 23C engined MF 35, but have come across an unexpected problem.

I bought a kit containing bushes and thrust bearings. The bushes have been reamed out and the spindle is a good fit, but although the thrust bearings fit the spindles, their outside diameter is about an eighth of an inch too large to fit into the bottom of the axle housings. The old worn bearings do have a smaller OD than the new ones, but I can't find suitable ones matching the correct dimensions to purchase.

Has anyone else come across this problem? The supplier tells me that they have supplied dozens of these kits and have never heard of the problem that I have.

Any advice great fully received.
Thanks for reading

Had a similar problem when doing my 1959 mf65 spindles. There was more than one kit and I had the wrong one to start with.

Thanks for your response.
Would you by any chance have details of the part number for the correct kit, as I am not making any progress with this at all. The MF 35 and 65 should share the same parts, as far as I can see.
Many thanks

I'm pretty sure the one I used was an A&I part # A-SBBSKIT02 That I got from Yesterday's Tractors

G'day I'm guessing you should have a Sparex dealer somewhere and their part no is S.40226

Thanks for all replies.
The problem I still have banjodunn, is that the Sparex part that you suggest is the bearing that has too large an outside diameter to fit inside the bottom of my axle housings. I will try to post a photo of the old one alongside the Sparex one later today.

The mystery is solved, the casing of the old bearing is still in the axle housing and needs to be prised out to allow the new bearing to fit in.
Never to old to learn
