MF 35 Plugs

Hello. I am new and learning a lot. I have a 1967 MF35 with a Perkins 3 cyl. I just replaced the coil but replacing the spark plug look kinda awkward. Is there an easy way to get at them? Thanks.. I'm sure i'll have more questions.

Hey, Perkins only made Diesel engines to my knowledge and continental made the gasoline engines for Massey ferguson. We have a t0-20 and a Ferguson 40. Both I believe have continental gasoline engines

Perkins makes both diesel and gas engines. Perkins Engines

I should have said a MF 135 Deluxe. I looked at it again and found a cracked plug wire so I want to replace the wires and the plugs. The only way I can figure out how to do it is to remove the fuel tank.. Of course it full so that should be fun. If I could just get the wires I would wait till it warms up to do the plugs.

I was curious as to why a gas Perkins would need to have the tank removed to install plugs and wires. Now on a 135 it looks pretty straight forward. Can you not use a knuckle on a socket extension to get to them. My Honda plugs are harder to get to then on that gas Perkins.

Perkins plugs can be removed without taking the tin or tank off. There is a small heat shield that comes off easily to give you better access.

My recollection is that the first gas 35 type tractors (TO35) in the US were Continental, then there was a period of 3-cyl Perkins gas being used on MF's and then a switch back to Continental until when they didn't offer gas anymore. I think a dealer told me that the Continental gas was a little more fuel efficient than the Perkins gas. The only gas ones I have operated were Continental 4-cyl.

Just to follow up. The weather got into the 30's and it was a lot easier to work on the 135. I removed the heat shield and the metal body work with 4 screws. I replaced the plugs, wires, coils condenser and points. I had cleaned the sediment bowl and went a head and replaced the gasket. It fired up the first try.. Thanks for all the help. I will keep reading and learning.
