So, planning on the 50 hour service, in almost 50 hours. :)

I will need, an oil filter, oil, Lots of Permatran, a trans filter, which is internal, correct? Have not crawled under yet, so unaware of location.

What about the hydraulic steering filter, should be done also?

Fuel filter too?

Do the cab filters just get blown out?

Can Amsoil 75W90 be used in the front axle, instead of Permatran??

Don't know for sure about yours, but my dealer recommended 75w-90 synthetic or semi synthetic gear oil in my BX front axle as soon as I got it home. Just a guess on his part, but he supposes it is easier on the line to just fill it with the hose/gun for hydro fluid. For what it's worth. I did indeed fill mine with 75w-90.

I am guessing others are just like me, do it ourselves, as it is not mandatory that the dealer does it.

G'day df i am speaking from a dealer point of view i agree with you that you are not bound to have your first service done by the dealer but it is something that i strongly recommend. When we do a first service often there are little jobs we do that may be factory repairs or they may be something that we have found out ourselves. Not all these things are bought to the attention of the owner as they have been rectified and they do not need to have it in the back of their mind niggling at them each time they are on the machine. It may seem dishonest not telling you that i have put a different seal in your pto as the manufacturer has found that they are having failures at 75 - 100 hrs and have modified the seal but if i did would you check it every time you walked past ? or would you complain to the dealer that it has sprung a leak ( your right totally ) when it did and also tell your friends that it did, this is negative publicity to the manufacturer and is something that they don't want. Oh and BTW we fill all our final drives with 80w90 and change the outer hubs every engine oil change

When we do the 50 hour service all fluids are changed, and all filters are changed. The tractor is gone through from one end to the other. All bolts are checked, and any thing found wrong is fixed under warranty. We spend 4-5 hours on each tractor for the 50 hour service. (we do not charge our customers for pick=up or delivery)

I haven't taken delivery of my new MF yet, hopefully this week though, but what is the 50 hr service worth in your area. The dealer I bought from charges $75/hr labour, 5 hours plus parts (fluids & filters) & taxes could be a pretty expensive first service, upwards of roughly 5% of what I paid for the whole tractor. I know the 50 hr service costs probably vary from model to model slightly so to compare apples to apples in my case, my tractor is a MF1529.

And since it is not a requiremnt, when I do finally pull the trigger, I will be doing the 50 hour myself.
