There is a diesel MF 135 for sale locally. The owner wants $5000.00 for it. At this point I do not know much about the tractor but will probably look at it this week end. I will need a loader and it may be tough to get one for this old lady. I know the 135 was a great tractor. Can anyone tell me how long MF made the 135, were they all 2WD, did any have power steering, are loaders readily available? Thanks to all who know about the MF 135 and can help.

According to my Primedia Used tractor Guide, the 135 was built from 1964 thru 1975. As far as I know, they are all 2wd, I imagine power steering was an option, much like the Fords of this era. Later years would be more likely to be equipped with PS. Companies such as Koyker or Bush Hog, just name name the first 2 that come to mind, likely make loaders to fit these older tractors if a used MF loader cannot be located. More info can be found at Tractor Data.

There are many many 135 here in Turkey. Therefore, there are many companies who are manufacturing its spare parts of this tractor. Maybe, Turkey is sole supplier of spare parts of this tractor in the world. If you buy this old tractor, you may frequent companies like Sparex, A&I, etc there in USA. I can send its power steering kit from here if they don't have any in their warehouse. I can also send you a loader for it. Good tractor of its time.

$5000 doesn''t sound bad. Aftermarket loaders can be found from Bushhog, Koyker, Westendorf, Woods, you name it they have it to fit.
Power sterring kits can be foudn but I'm still looking for a more sensible price for it. Chances are if you have a loader put on, you'll have to add an auxilary pump, which you then may be able to use that same pump for your power steering.

Massey still offers a mount for a 135 that is used with a 1040 loader.

Assuming it's in average to good condition, that's about the going price on a 135. The diesel engine (Perkins 152-3) is the most reliable ever built. Cheap to rebuild compared to anything else too. The 135 came with power steering as an option. Large part had it. Other options were deluxe seat, live power or independent pto, diff lock, flat-top fenders, 6-speed/6 speed w/ multi-power/8 speed. (Latter is most desirable) Power adjust rear wheels, and ROPS. (ROPS is scarce-)

Parts are easy to get. AGCO/Massey dealers can get about everything. Several good aftermarket sources too.

The 135 is one of those rare items that sell based on it's extremely good reputation. I haven't seen too many real bargains on a 135 (or it's big brother 150) in years. They just keep going up. Most sell for over new price. (Low $5000's in 1975)

Loaders are still available. Tractor's too popular for manufacturers to ignore still.

You'll get more people to say the 135 was the best utility tractor ever built. Once you own one, you'll say it too.

Had a guy come in the other day who is hopefully about to buy a 2500 series Cub Cadet that bought a Massey 135 and several pieces of equipment from us in 1985 for $6000.00. He jus sold the tractor and all the equipment for $6,500.00. So he used the tractor for 20 years and made $500.00 to boot when he sold it...that speaks volumes about the 135.

Farm23, When I was buying my Massey 1433v on delivery day my dealer saw my 135 and made me an offer right there for $3200 and if you were to see it in person (wrong colors, bent sheet metal, etc.bad gauges ,all from previous owners)it looks bad but is very sound mechanically ... He said I could get $3500 or more as it sits, This tractor has done all the work I ever asked of it from the time before our property was just a huge over grown mess of vines, briars, deadwood an so-on... I should sell it ,but I want to restore it cosmetically just because it deserves it ...IMO /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Haul that 135 down this way, stick a set of AG tires on it, and it would sell in no time at all for $4500 or more. That's not in bad shape, just well tested. I went with a friend to look at one he was interested in. It was priced at $6500. It was sold before we got there. Saw a 150 sell for $7000 (and not as good a condition as mine!)

Hey,

The old lady you are talking about is the best utility tractor ever built!! In either form 35/135, you won't find a more reliable one PERIOD!!

MF still carries parts for these, as well as A&I( Vapormatic ), Sparex, and so many others!!

The UK models had a stronger front axle.( same as UK 35. )In fact, the UK 135 was rebaged a 150, and sold in US. It also has power steering, diff lock, and a foot throttle was standard ( on UK models anyway. ) Also had multipower, aka the first 2 speed powershift.

Loaders are readily available. Like someone else posted here ( sorry, forgot your name.. **** old age....LOL!! ) it is too popular to be ignored!!

When I can find the pic on my harddrive, I will try and post it!! It was of a fully restored 135, asking price $11,000, and it sold!!

I say go for it!!

Keep us posted, and pics please!!

Take care,

Will
