My 67' 135 diesel is leaking hydraulic fuel out a rear wheel seal and down the rim. I've been quoted about $150 per side for the dealership to do (stated a lot of labor... pressing etc) does this sound right? Is it a do-it-yourself job without owning a press? What would be involved?

Poncho, I haven't had to take mine out but I have attached a pic ,Hope it helps, Also depends on if right or left axle.Looks pretty involved. $150 might not be too bad if only one side.

nasty135.... thanks for the exploded view. It's only the left side, but my thinking is go ahead and get both sides done at the same time. Once done I can put brakes on it and will also have new tires installed. All this will probably run me around $700.

There is a press on sleeve that holds the axle bearing in place. This would need to be removed to replace the outer seal. Unless the bearing is bad you are wasting time and $. Once you remove the axle look inside the trumpet housing and you'll see the seal that needs replacing(part #195678m1). Pop out the bad seal, install a new one, repack the axle bearing, reinstall the axle, replace the wheel assy, and you are done.
